Overview of TU BIT Program

BIT, also known as Bachelor in Information Technology is an undergraduate academic program that has been designed to produce IT professionals and experts. BIT program is for four years duration and the academic sessions are broken down into semester wise systems. This course was formulated keeping in mind the rapidly changing technological environment and their expansion. This course objectively deals with concepts of programming, system design, computer networks and communications. It is a great platform to enter multimedia, artificial intelligence, mobile communication and networks. This course helps to build a professional career in IT and also paves path for MIT, MCA, MS Computer Science and MBA programs. This program enables students to work in the field of software development, Information security, database administration, network and system administration sections in Information technology. After the completion of BIT program, there are various job positions offered by public and private companies in Nepal such as IT Manager, Analyst, Interactive Digital Media Specialist, Web Administrator, Software Engineer etc.

Objectives of TU BIT Program

The Bachelor of IT by Tribhuvan University aims to equip students with theoretical concepts and practical training in IT to prepare them to work in fields of IT and information service. Some of the specific objectives of the TU BIT program are listed below:

  • BIT program enable students to adapt to ever-evolving technologies and environment and be innovative.
  • To enable students to function within a team to attain a common goal.
  • BIT program enable students to evaluate contemporary and emerging technologies and configure, apply and manage IT technologies.
  • To enable students to assess the impact of IT on business processes, individuals and the environment.
  • BIT develop the interpersonal expertise important for participation and leadership in the industry.
  • To provide a strong foundation for the further education.

Admission Requirements in TU BIT Program

Students interested in pursuing TU BIT degree should have completed +2 or Intermediate in any stream.

Required Documents:

While applying for the admission students should submit the following documents:

  • Accurately filled and signed admission form
  • Photocopy/copy of certificates of SLC and +2 or intermediate level
  • Character certificates issued by the academic institutes attended
  • Recent passport size photos

Eligibility criteria for TU BIT program

To be eligible to apply for BIT program in TU Colleges, candidates should have completed twelve years of schooling or +2 level in management and science stream and secured minimum second division marks. They should appear and pass the entrance exam conducted by IOST, TU and completed all the College application procedures.

Evaluation Criteria

Total working days of the BIT program is 90  days per semester and 11 working hours per week for both practical and theory courses. The classroom evaluation for BCA will be based on internal exams 20 percent and external exams 80 percent besides project work and internship. Evaluation is based on the grading system.
